Derby’s
Story
Derby and her dad, Phil, were walking near some railroad tracks when Derby cut one of her paws. Unfortunately, the cuts were deep and required stitches, as well as bandage care as wounds to the dog’s feet, can be very hard to heal. What made matters more concerning for Derby is that her dad is unhoused, so Derby’s environment is hard to control. The team at PAW Fund had been working with Derby’s dad and was able to assist with bandage changes, however needed assistance with funding the surgery. SAGE Compassion for Animals was able to provide a grant and Dr. Hitchcock and the team at Abbey Pet Hospital graciously provided a discount to get Derby the surgery she needed. Derby is wearing her cone while her dad continues to care for her – it is wonderful to see them together!
