Diamond’s
Story
Diamond is just a 4-month-old puppy and already she has experienced a scary injury! She was hit by a car! Luckily, she mainly had some scrapes and road-rash, but her left hind leg was just dangling. Her pet mom brought her into the ER clinic where they ensured she had no internal injuries, but her thigh bone had been shattered! The decision was made that the best course of treatment was amputation, and the Humane Society of Sonoma County team was able to provide the services. Diamond’s mom did not have the funds for the surgery – SAGE Compassion for Animals was able to fund the surgery – including getting Diamond spayed! She is recovering well and soon will be ready to get back to her puppy life!
Remember that accidents and injuries can happen when pets are very young! Getting pet insurance soon after adoption can help in these situations, so please also see our resource page for information on pet insurance – best to get it when your pet is healthy so that you never have to worry about being able to afford care!
