Maia’s

Story

Maia was originally a foster dog as an older Chihuahua, but soon became a forever family member!  Unfortunately, she had a “cherry eye”, which is when the gland of the 3rd eyelid pops out.  A repair had been attempted, but it had recurred – and now it was causing a painful ulcer in Maia’s eye!  Maia’s new pet mom found the team at Veterinary Vision, a group of boarded veterinary ophthalmologists that had experience with a different kind of surgery that could correct the cherry eye, but she didn’t have the funds.  SAGE Compassion for Animals was able to help fund the surgery and now Maia is able to see well out of both of her beautiful eyes!
